Red Dot Design Award 2011
Red dot award for the design telephone series from innovaphone: product design award
Sindelfingen, March 28, 2011 – innovaphone has good reason to celebrate: The latest product line of design telephones has been awarded the coveted “red dot award: product design”. The design series, which has been designed by the Sindelfingen based IP specialists for representative office environments and sophisticated professional users and which was launched at this year’s CeBIT, convinced the high calibre jury. The “red dot design award” is one of the most important international product competitions. Designers and companies applied with 4,433 products from more than 60 countries in the hope of winning one of the prizes awarded by the Design-Zentrum Nordrhein-Westfalen. More than 1,000 guests from designers, industrialists, society and the world of media will celebrate with the winners of the red dot design award on July 4, 2011. This award ceremony traditionally takes place in the Aalto Theater in Essen. The products adorned with the renowned red dot will then be on show as exhibits for four weeks in the red dot design museum.
Dagmar Geer, board member Marketing at innovaphone, is pleased with the award: “We invested a great deal of time and have poured our heart and soul into developing the new product line so that our new products can fully measure up to the high expectations placed on devices carrying our brand name. Our customers have welcomed the new telephones with open arms. The fact that the design of our new telephones has been recognised by the design world, in the form of the red dot design award, is both an honour and motivation for the future.”
Professor Peter Zec, initiator of the red dot design award comments, “As always, our jury examined all of the products submitted very critically. Design quality has clearly won through in the jury process and real, new creative solutions have also been rewarded. Both criteria are not only indicators of good design but also of success potential on the market. Targeted use of our renowned design award increases potential many times over.”
Modern design with leading-edge technical details
The design line has been created by innovaphone’s internal development team. The first two telephones (IP222 and IP232) should soon be complemented by further devices. The design line unifies state-of-the-art design with leading-edge technical details. At first glance, the innovative handset cradle is particularly striking, suggesting the handset is floating. A magnetic solution is concealed, which secretly attaches the handset to the base. The telephones have a large colour display with optimal resolution and an intuitive touchscreen which will enthuse frequent callers or traditional function keys. The technical inner workings of the telephones are also exciting. The telephones are not only attractive to look at, the application of state-of-the-art technical standards sets new standards concerning voice quality and power consumption.
The winning products are on show at the red dot design museum
Together with the other award-winning products, the design telephones will be on show from July 5th to August 1st, 2011 in the “Design on stage – winners red dot award: product design 2011” exhibition in the red dot design museum. The museum is located in the breath-taking setting of the former Zeche Zollverein colliery in Essen. The red dot design museum is home to the largest exhibition of contemporary design worldwide with more than 1,500 products on over 4,000 square metres of floor space.
Most significant design competition in the world
The red dot design award has existed since 1955 and has developed into the biggest and most renowned design competition in the world. It is separated into three disciplines: “red dot award: product design”, “red dot award: communication design” and “red dot award: design concept”.
